This is lovely copy of the First Trade Edition of this great biographical novel. There had been a limited signed edition published by the Franklin Library previous to the release of the trade edition. The book is in Very Near Fine condition with all corners square. There is a small mark of discoloration to the bottom edge but it really does not detract. The dustjacket is also Very Near Fine with a tiny bit of wear to the bottom of the spine panel. The dustjacket is not price-clipped. The book is inscribed on the ffep (first free endpaper) and in this case the inscription is pertinent to the novel and its subject. Inscribed in 1985,the year of publication, It reads, "For Rosemary, Please become an impressionist, we did, Warmly, Irving Stone, Oct 23, 1985". From the author of "The Agony and the Ecstasy" (Michelangelo) and" Lust for Life" (Van Gogh) comes an epic novel based on the life of CAMILLE PISSARRO. If you have never read a Stone novel before, you are in for a real treat! Pissarro was a French impressionist painter associated with Monet, Renoir and others. Pissarro's warmth and generosity made him an endearing figure to French painters, and among those who sought his advice were Gaughin, Van Gogh and Cezanne. This book makes a wonderful presentation and would make a fine addition to any Book Collectors library. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
