Price: $65.00

Kate Millett was one of the founders of the Women's Movement and one of the most important writers on the subject. This book is a pre- First Edition uncorrected proof in very near fine condition. There is some very slight fading to the spine but the book is perfectly square and has not been read. There were few copies of this Proof published. After the Shah's downfall, Iran saw a period of chaos and power struggle. The committee for artistic and intellectual Freedom sent out an urgent plea to feminists to come and see conditions in Iran. Kate Millet answered the call. I personally lived in Iran during the period just before her journeys. This book is a highly personal account of her experiences in a country where a person can get seventy-five lashes for taking a drink, where Millett and her lover were defamed and threatened with death, and where she made lasting friendships. The volume is a wonderful read and a great collector's book for those interested in other cultures and/or feminism. A very nice Uncorrected Proof.
